Session 2: July 14&15 8am-5pm
$150 plus $25 materials fee
*Must register by 7/7/07

Monotypes are referred to as a painterly print.  They allow freeness but can lack control and often rely on luck.  In addition, the term monotype implies one not allowing for multiples.  In this class students will learn how to edition monotypes from two to six prints that are exactly alike.  Using the offset press students will learn how to have multiple layers on the same print that line up (easily!)  We will discuss the use of flats, painting, dry media and solvent washes.  This is a great class for anyone who loves color.  All skill levels are invited.

July 16- 19, 5-9pm
$150 plus $125 materials fee (Includes a set of woodcut tools, wood, paper, inks)
*Must register by 7/7/07

The term Moku (wood) Hanga (printing) is a term that describes traditional water-based Japanese woodcuts.  They are a beautiful, non-toxic way of printing that does not require the use of a press.  (You’ll be able to make them on your kitchen table!) Traditional tools, carving and printing techniques will be discussed.  Students will begin with a single color print and then learn reductive and multiple block techniques using kento registration.  This is a class for beginner students or those who would like to learn traditional Moku Hanga techniques.
